I was born in 1983 in Virginia to Taiwanese immigrants. I grew up in Central Florida and have a B.A. in journalism from New York University. I taught a class called "The Contemporary Short Story" in Sarah Lawrence College's MFA program in 2012 and 2015. I write nonfiction, autobiographical fiction, and poetry. I've published ten books, including four novels. My writing has appeared in The New York Times Book Review, Harper's Magazine, Granta, The Paris Review, NOON, and elsewhere. My recent work is focused on spirituality. I live in Hawaii and post on Substack/X/Instagram. I'm represented by Julie Flanagan at CAA.
