I was born in 1983 in Virginia to Taiwanese immigrants. I grew up in Central Florida. I have a B.A. in journalism from New York University and have taught in Sarah Lawrence College's MFA program. I write nonfiction, autobiographical fiction, and poetry. I've published ten books, including four novels. My writing has appeared in New York Times Book Review, Harper's Magazine, Granta, The Paris Review, NOON, and elsewhere. I live in Hawaii and post on Substack/X/Instagram. I'm represented by Julie Flanagan at CAA.
