I was born in 1983 in Alexandria, Virginia, to Taiwanese immigrants. I grew up in Central Florida, have a B.A. in journalism from New York University, and have taught writing in Sarah Lawrence College's MFA program. I'm the author of ten books, including four novels. My writing has been published in the New York Times Book Review, Granta, NOON, and elsewhere. I live in Hawaii, edit Muumuu House, am on Twitter and Instagram, and write on Substack.
I'm working on a nonfiction book titled Self Heal: How I Cured My Autism, Autoimmunity, Eczema, Depression, and Other Health Problems Naturally and an essay collection titled Reasons to Live. I'm represented by The Clegg Agency.
